Organic Wine VS Conventional Wine
Organic wine popularity is on the rise in the United States. People are switching from there traditional wines that there families have been buying for ages, to Organic/Vegan wine, and there's a big reason for the switch. Sulfur dioxide (sulfites) is a chemical compound with the formula S02, this gas is the main product from combustion of sulfur compounds and its of significant environmental concern. The smell is often described as rotten eggs, S02 is produced by volcanoes, coal and petroleum contain amounts of sulfur compounds as well. Sounds Yummy? I think not! Sulfur Dioxide Uses For Wine A small amount of S02 is produced naturally as a by product of fermentation, unfortunately most S02 has been added by the wine maker. During the production of white wine, its added at almost every stage unlike red wine. The use for sulfur dioxide in wine making is to regulate bacterial growth. Since 1987 wines sold in the united states must put warning labels on the bottles because sulfiltes can be harmful to the 1 percent of the population who are allergic to the chemical. In 1998, Caifornia farmers used 215 million pounds of chemicals, poisonous insecticides, fungicides and herbicides used in conventional grape production
Organic Wine is a wine made from organically grown grapes with out added sulfites. Originally growing grapes use to be organic by nature, but not anymore, most vineyards today are not organic. Because of the higher maintenance in the production of organic wine most vineyards cannot afford to go organic. Conventional wine groups are campaigning against organic wines arguing that they have less chemicals and sulfites but the taste of organic wine is of less quality, Sounds like a bunch of sour grapes to me. Traditional wine makers just don't have the budget to produce organic wine so this is there argument to draw wine lovers back to the traditional side. French organic wines show up consistently amongst the top ten in taste test.
If your looking to try organic wine for the first time, the top popular organic wines are Frey, Ceogo, Larocca and Bonterra. Frey organic biodynamic wine is America's first organic winery, which started in 1980. Freys red table wine has a deep color slightly smoked and playful, dances on your tongue. Real smooth taste with hints of mocha spice and a bit of oak with dark fruits. Freys red table wine can be best paired with basically any red meat and chocolate.
Ceogo Red Merlot Has a deep semi-opaque blood-red color with a nice firm taste freshly crushed red and black berry fruits, with a hit of mocha, oaks references, soft and supple through the mid palate. Bonterra Red Wine New world in style with flowers and black fruit, fruity with a mouthful of spices showing impressive balance, pleasant dark cherries on the palate, medium bodied, nice and dry, would go great with meatloaf.
Larocca White Wine Taste of melon with spice and honey, full-bodied chardonnay enhances the palate with crisp buttery flavors, fruitful bouquet and soft hints of oak. Add a delicate touch to the delightful dry finish, makes any occasion special, Larocca also produces the first organic champagne ever, cant wait to try it!

This is very good information, Cherrycrime26. From now on, I will go for organic wine. Sulfites don't seem so good! Thank you!
